What is Electricity?

The aim of this lesson is to introduce 5 to 7 year old pupils to electricity and the process involved in turning coal into electricity. Wind and solar power are also touched upon.

Pupils will look at appliances that use electricity and see how electrical energy is brought into homes and schools. They will learn the sequence of processes that turns a piece of coal into electricity. Pupils will also learn about safety around electricity using a take-home information sheet.
