KS2/P4-7 assembly plan

This Assembly explores, in very simple terms, some of the changes that are occurring due to global warming, and how they are effecting wildlife populations.

The Assembly has been scripted for delivery by the teacher or for pupil delivery (with pupils taking on the roles of Professor Green, J0B0T and Patrick the penguin). A narrator will also be required.

It can be used to introduce the themes that Generation Green explores: how we use energy, how we waste it, and how we must find new and better ways to make and use energy in the future. It can also be used at the end of an awareness-raising campaign, to help pupils to think beyond immediate energy-saving actions; to the wider role they can play in helping to avoid even more dramatic changes due to global warming.

Learning objectives

  • To understand the importance of saving energy.
  • To know, in practical terms, how to save energy and resources.
  • To gain a basic level of understanding of climate change and global warming.
