Once upon a time 300 million years ago...

The aim of this lesson is to introduce pupils to how fossil fuels are formed over time, looking specifically at coal.

It has been designed as one in a series of 8 lessons aimed at preparing pupils for an energy audit of their schools.

Learning objectives

  • To understand how fossil fuels are formed.
  • To understand the difference between renewable and non-renewable sources of energy.
  • To understand that our non-renewable sources are running out.
