The Experts

Professor Green only works with the best, so as you might expect he's got some top-notch experts together who'll be working with the 22 members of Our Planet, Our Say. When it comes to environmental issues they really know their stuff!

Gearóid Lane

Gearóid Lane

Gearóid Lane is Director of British Gas New Energy, which is responsible for energy efficiency and climate change activity within British Gas, the nation's leading energy supplier. Gearóid is also a leading member of the Energy Saving Trust, an important organisation that promotes the sustainable and efficient use of energy, water conservation and waste reduction. In his free time he likes to go scuba diving, enjoys running and is a keen cyclist.

The UK's children are eager for a platform to voice their concerns and it's time we started listening. Their generation will face the toughest environmental challenges yet but their sheer optimism, imagination and can-do attitude remains intact. That's why we are calling for children, parents, grandparents and teachers to help us find the 20 most passionate young green minds with the power to drive change.

Julia Hailes

Julia Hailes

Julia Hailes has written several best-selling books on how to look after the planet including ‘The Green Consumer Guide’, which sold over one million copies worldwide. She works closely with large companies to advise them on how they can improve their green behaviour. She was awarded an MBE by the Queen for her environmental work. Julia also writes regularly for the Daily Telegraph online, has a popular green blog and has previously written a monthly column for BBC online.

I'm really excited to be getting young people involved in Generation Green's Our Planet, Our Say. Environmental issues can be complex but that doesn't mean there aren't solutions. I'm looking forward to hearing what innovative ideas our group can come up with - and see how they can inspire others along the way.

Ann Finlayson

Ann Finlayson

Ann Finlayson works with the government to try to protect the environment and has been involved with green issues for over 30 years. Ann has travelled the world teaching children and adults about the environment and visited places like Papua New Guinea, Australia and Canada. She has worked for the WWF and recently set up a new organisation called SEEd which encourages environmental education in the UK.

I've always been passionate about the environment and interested in finding workable ways to be more friendly to the planet. I've taught people all around world about this subject, so I look forward to hearing what young people in the UK have got to say, and to thinking about how we can incorporate learning about green living into school life.

Lawrence McGinty

Lawrence McGinty

Lawrence McGinty has been ITV News’ Science Editor since 1987 appearing on TV around the clock. He has covered events from across the world, ranging from international disasters to endangered species. In 2000, he won an Emmy for Best International News Coverage.

I have travelled all over the world reporting on some of the biggest challenges that face our planet, so I'm keen to hear the views of young people and to find out what they think we could be doing to help safeguard the future.
