Think Tanks

Our Planet, Our Say is an eco-friendly think tank of 22 enthusiastic and green-minded school children who are setting out to green-up the UK!

Through three workshops; recycling, renew and re-educate, our Think Tankers will learn about green issues, brainstorm great green ideas and create an eco-manifesto to take to Downing Street early next year.

Check out what they get up to in each of the Workshops:

On 16th November our Generation Green Think Tankers will visit Beddington Zero Energy Development (BedZED) to explore the importance of green education and learn how we can re-educate communities to live in a sustainable way.

BedZED is the UK’s largest mixed use sustainable community. This means that the people who live there save as much energy as possible in different ways, for example by:

• buying food that is grown locally
• reducing the number of cars that are used
• recycling as much household waste as possible
• reducing the amount of electricity they use

BedZED was designed as a place where ordinary people could enjoy a high quality of life, while reducing the damage they do to the environment. A perfect place to find some green inspiration for our Think Tankers!

They will be taken on a tour of the development and will learn all about how to live in a sustainable way, even by making small changes. Then they can take some of these ideas back to their local communities and encourage everyone to follow the BedZED example.

Watch this space for our update on how the day went and what the Think Tankers learnt.

In the meantime, why don’t you take a look at the BedZED website at www.bioregional.com?
