So here it is; the what, where, who and a little bit more about our Think Tanks.
Think Tank 1: Recycling
Mission: To think about recycling everything, everything that is except our ideas! Our Think Tank green manifesto will kick-start with a great recycling idea.
Location: Closed Loop, a cutting-edge recycling facility
Experts:
Chris Dow, Managing Director of Closed Loop.
Ken Webster, leading environmentalist and author of Sense and Sustainability.
Julia Hailes MBE, green expert and author of the Young Green Consumer Guide
The Low Down: Chris will take our Think Tank on an interactive tour of Closed Loop, they will see it in eco-action and learn about everything that goes on behind the cutting-edge technology. Ken will then talk to our Think Tank about sustainability and set them an eco-mission to bust!
Think Tank 2: Renew
Mission: To go on and on and on, about energy that can go on and on and on! The Think Tank will come up with another idea for their manifesto, this time about renewable energy.
Location: Met Office, home to the UK’s national weather service and the country’s leading climate change research centre.
Experts:
Polar region scientists, and climate change experts from the Met Office
Gearóid Lane, Director of British Gas New Energy
Julia Hailes MBE, green expert and author of the Young Green Consumer Guide
The Low Down: Our Planet, Our Say members are joining forces with the Met Office to consider what our climate will look like in 50-100 years time if we don’t switch to renewable energy, and the challenge of what we can do to preserve it. Our Think Tank will learn how the weather is forecast, as well as having the chance to have a go in their region!
Think Tank 3: Re-educate
Mission: Spread the green love around! For our last workshop we want to make sure every child unleashes their Eco-Ranger with-in, by looking at how a sustainable community might look in their hometown.
