Green Manifesto

Over three workshops, our Think Tankers came up with some eco-awesome ideas for our Green Manifesto – and it went down a storm in Parliament. On the 9th February, our Think Tankers joined some of our eco-experts in Parliament, to present our eco-ideas to some of the Government’s top ministers. Here’s what happened…

Over the last year, our 22 Think Tankers have been putting their heads together in the Our Planet, Our Say workshops, to come up with loads of green ideas and recommendations for Parliament. We took the six best ideas from these workshops to create our Green Manifesto.

The workshops

The three workshops included inspiring tours around the Closed Loop Recycling Plant, The Met Office, and BedZED. We learned how our actions impact on the environment, and discussed the best ways we can all help stop climate change.

What’s the big eco-idea?

The result of all this hard work and fun was hundreds of brilliant ideas; from simple tips to help us all do our bit, to big, policy changing, super-green thinking!

All these eco-awesome ideas were condensed down into six main points that we think the Government should implement into a new nationwide green initiative.

Getting your support

To really help our Green Manifesto stand out when we took it to Parliament, we asked all our Generation Green schools to send us their support. In just two weeks we received over 1,700 pledges from schools up and down the country, and more than 30 Pledge Booklet cover designs. Special thanks goes to the creator of our winning Green Manifesto Pledge Booklet cover design, Megan MacRae, of Kyleakin Primary School, Isle of Skye, Scotland.
