Become an energy expert at home
How much energy is escaping from your house every day? Help keep the temperature up and the gas bills down by teaching your family some of Ian Lewis’ top tips. Try keeping doors shut and tucking curtains behind radiators when you draw them, and see how much warmer the room feels. You could even suggest redecorating with light colours and lots of mirrors, so your rooms are naturally bright and you won’t need to turn lights on as much.
Turn your teacher green
How green is your teacher? Set up a green quiz for all your teachers to find out how much they know. Maybe you could have a teachers vs pupils competition – who do you think would win? Then challenge your teachers to include something about the environment in all their lessons – even maths and PE.
Grow a green community
Write to your local council to ask for help improving green knowledge in your local area. Maybe you could suggest organising a green fair where everyone can learn about simple ways to live in a more environmentally friendly way and take part in green challenges. You could design the invitations yourself and post them through the letterboxes of all your neighbours.
