The LEAF is Nissan’s spark of inspiration – it’s the world’s first affordable 100% electric car. The following two lessons use Nissan LEAF to introduce the concept of Electric Vehicles (EVs) to your students and to explore why they are an important step towards a more sustainable future. Students work in small groups to create an article based on EVs for the science section of a newspaper, online news source, radio show or TV show. The lessons build students’ ability to communicate about science, showing how science can make our world a better place. Using briefings about the Nissan LEAF, students identify and explain through their work some key ways in which EVs demonstrate that car manufacturers, energy companies and drivers can all make a contribution to more sustainable transport. Can they help convince the public that EVs are the way forward? Brought to you from a partnership between British Gas and Nissan to create a sustainable future.
